Do you feel fear, anger or hopelessness about the future of our world and nature? Join us, turn your feelings into action, and help us liberate the earth! Anyone can participate. On 28 April, we rebel with peaceful roadblocks, a legal demonstration and a wild garden at Christiansborg in Copenhagen. We do this to pressure the government to bow to our simple demands for more protected nature and reform of industrial agriculture in Denmark. If politicians still do not do what is clearly necessary, we will return and rebel again on May 12. If, on the other hand, they have got their act together and initiated our demands, we will have a party instead.
HOW CAN YOU JOIN?
On the day itself (April 28) you can turn up and help create the wild garden, take part in roadblocks, participate in the legal protest, or just support us with your presence. There will be civil disobedience–that is, some of us will break the law to raise awareness for the action. But many forms of participation are needed. That’s why many of us can also stay within the law and run no risk of being arrested. Information about May 12 will be posted on our Facebook page, xrdk.org and dukop.dk.
WHAT CAN YOU DO RIGHT NOW?
Share this event and invite everyone you know! There need to be many of us to succeed. Before the action, you can keep an eye on Extinction Rebellion's Facebook page or website , where we invite you to mobilization actions, banner painting, costume making, etc. Or just show up to an intro meeting or common meeting (fællesmøde), where we can help you find your role in the rebellion. If you would like to engage in civil disobedience, it is a good idea to attend a non-violent civil disobedience training beforehand. Meetings and trainings are also announced on our website and Facebook page.
TURN FARMLAND INTO WILD NATURE!
At least 30 percent of Denmark must be protected nature, and industrial animal agriculture must be reformed, for us to even have a chance of avoiding total climate and natural collapse. That's why we demand that the government as an absolute minimum:
Decides to buy up and convert agricultural and forest land until 30% of Denmark's area is protected nature.
Stops new loans from banks and financial institutions for industrial animal agriculture.
Bans pesticides in agriculture.
WHY DO WE REBEL?
We are facing a collapse of our climate, our ecosystems and ultimately, our civilization. Although we have only seen the very first consequences, there are already millions of people who have had their lives destroyed by the climate crisis. Denmark uses more land for farming than any country in the world, and animal agriculture accounts for over 40% of Denmark's domestic greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, nature has been chopped up. It is being poisoned and repressed so much that a mass extinction has started – an extinction of the web of life of which we ourselves are a part.
